Cartier Art Deco Mother-of-Pearl, Coral, Nephrite and Onyx Cigarette Box in Yellow Gold, circa 1925

The pair of gold covers set with luodian (mother-of -pearl inlaid) depicting moon-lit landscapes with figures, fences, plants, trees and rocks, the hinges set with ebonite rods, accented with collet-set cabochon corals, the body applied on both sides with pierced nephrite carvings, scattered with rose-cut diamonds, coral and onyx cabochons and rising from an onyx vase, all mounted on two ebonite blocks carved with key pattern, mounted in 18 karat yellow gold. Signed Cartier Paris New York, Made in France, numbered 2993, circa 1925. Dimensions: 200 x 90 x 60 mm.
